1/2 cup ketchup
1 Tablespoon dark brown sugar
2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 Tablespoons molasses
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients over medium heat until mixture begins to simmer.
Reduce heat to low and continue to cook 15 minutes. For a thicker sauce, simmer for an additional 10 minutes, occasionally stirring.
Let cool and store in an airtight container in refrigerator until needed.
